JAKARTA - The presence of artificial intelligence (AI) raises concerns about the dim role of songwriters in the music ecosystem.
However, Deputy Minister of Culture (Wamenbud) Giring Ganesha has his own belief, where the role of songwriters has not been replaced.
"I still have confidence that AI artists have not been able to replace Eross Candra's songs or songs by Sal Priadi or songs by Baskara (Men's Daughter)," Giring told the media crew in Gambir, Central Jakarta recently.
For him, a musical work brings its own 'flavor', which the songwriter presents. For now, he sees that AI has not been able to present the 'flavor' in question.
"Still can't AI replace that, because there's still no taste," he added.

However, Wamenbud does not want to just deny the role of AI. He saw a good impact that could be used from this renewable technology.
Not in the realm of music, Giring highlighted the role of AI which can facilitate cultural work.
"For example, AI can help archaeologists accelerate the restoration of a temple," he said. "AI can help friends at the National Gallery to identify original paintings and fake paintings."
In addition, Giring also said that AI can be used for the preservation of cultural heritage.
"AI can also be used to make it easier in translation. For example, there are lightning, we can digitize it, after that we can directly translation all the data," he concluded.
