ACTION And VISION Agree: Organizers Who Pay Royalties

JAKARTA - NOAH's vocalist who is also a member of the Indonesian Voice Vibration (VISION), Ariel, said that there was an understanding with the All-Indonesian Composer Association (AKSI) regarding parties who had to pay royalties.

This was conveyed after the Vision and ACTION of attending the General Hearing Meeting (RDPU) with the Legislation Body (Baleg) of the DPR regarding the revision of the Copyright Law (UUHC) at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta on Tuesday, November 11.

Ariel said the ACTION had stated that the singer was not the party who had to pay royalties in the context of music performances.

"We are happy that there is a direct statement from the AKSI which states that it is not the singer who has to pay (royalti) for the performance rights," Ariel told the media crew.

The 44-year-old singer hopes that the AKSI statement can serve as a reminder so that no party will 'stress' the singer to pay royalties.

"So, because the statement came directly from ACTION, hopefully it could be more assertive to people, especially individuals," he added. Don't let it happen again. Because even though there was a moratorium from the Minister, two weeks ago there were still singers who were summoned.

In addition, Piyu as the General Chair of ACTION agreed with what the NOAH vocalist said. He said the understanding was based on Permenkumham Number 27 of 2025 which stated that the responsibility for royalty payments was with the organizers.

"Do you want it? Because Permenkumham has been released with the Minister," said Piyu.

However, the Padi Reborn guitarist underlined the singer's responsibility to ensure the organizer paid royalties according to the provisions.

"We agreed (the organizers who paid royalties). It's been like that for a long time. But when there was an intransparentity and there was no distribution from the organizers to the LMK (Collective Management Institute), when the creators were not allowed to perform (singer) ? " said Piyu.
