CIMB Niaga responds to allegations of copyright infringement of Eclat Story (Ist)

JAKARTA - Allegations of copyright infringement for the work of Eclat Story are still a discourse discussed on social media. CIMB Niaga has contacted the editor of VOI.ID to convey the right to answer this case.

Through a written statement, CIMB Niaga, represented by Amir Widjaya as Head of Marketing & Customer Experience, stated several points, including a form of responsibility for a work entitled Form of Love which was broadcast in 2020 in one of the branches.

"We always support the development of the country's music and art industry as part of a commitment to the growth of the creative economy in Indonesia," they wrote in a statement received by VOI, November 8.

As for the licensing for the screening of Eclat Story video clips, CIMB Niaga revealed that it had obtained a permit and made royalty payments as a form of responsibility for the use of works.

"Regarding the screening of the music video for Eclat Story Bentuk Cinta at the Digital Lounge CIMB Niaga Pondok Indah Mall in 2020, we have obtained a permit and paid royalties to the Indonesian Music Wahana Association (WAMI) as the authorized Collective Management Institute (LMK). CIMB Niaga has carried out its procedures and obligations in accordance with applicable legal provisions," he explained.

In closing, CIMB Niaga also stated its commitment to complying with regulations and laws, including copyright.

"We uphold statutory regulations in carrying out business, including in terms of the use of copyright and intellectual property," the statement continued.

It was stated that CIMB Niaga representatives, discussions with Eclat Story related to this problem have been held several times. According to him, the latest meeting took place on August 29, 2025.
