LOCOVASIA 2025 Brings A Traditional Music Lestarikan Mission Through Cultural Innovation

SEMARANG The 2025 LOCOVASIA event has officially opened in the Cultural Village of Semarang State University (UNNES), Semarang, Friday, October 24. This national forum unites artists, composers, researchers, and musicians from all over Indonesia to explore traditional music in the spirit of cultural innovation.

Fadli Zon was present to open this activity as a form of support from the Ministry of Culture.

'LOCOVASIA is a meeting room for ideas, a place for conservation to meet creations. Our tradition is not only preserved, but is reinterpreted to stay alive today," said Menbud Fadli in a cultural oration.

For three days, the participants underwent a work, discussion, and collaborative workshop. The six best music groups, two composers, two researchers, and three musicians were selected from thousands of registrants from Aceh to Papua. The results will be displayed in the Nusantara Traditional Music Showcase in four public spaces: Old City, Young Monument, Simpang Lima, and UNNES, on October 28, 2025.

UNNES as the host said LOKOVASIA was in line with the vision of conservation and campus roles as centers of cultural innovation. "We want to produce a traditional model of preserving digital research and technology-based music," said University Secretary Sugiyanto.

The Mayor of Semarang, Agustina Wilujeng Pramestuti, emphasized the relevance of LOKOVASIA with the musical character of this city, especially keroncong. Semarang needs a new keroncong open, flexible, and speaking at this time of time.

Chief Executive of Satiyawan Jayantoro explained that LOKOVASIA was born from criticism of the development of traditional music that often escapes from the roots. This forum is a space for cross-generational and regional collaboration to create new forms of expression that continue to stand on local values.
