JAKARTA - Sukses Lancar Rejeki (SLR), trio punk rock teenager from Bekasi who is on the rise, reveals the secret behind their super short song format.

Instead of following the standards of the duration of music in general, SLR deliberately released songs under three minutes, some even had only 29 seconds like "Asgar".

SLR vocalist and guitarist Mahes said that the short duration as part of an artistic strategy. He explained that short duration is the key so that the punchline (inti humorous) in their song does not feel stale.

"That's a concept. It's like you've never been in the hangout and someone keeps dancing, 'Wow, it's really not the first time.' But it was repeated many times with him. So it's not bad," Mahes explained his analogy when met in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta some time ago.

According to him, repeating the same core in a long duration will eliminate its appeal. "So if, for example, 'Thief', yes, we make the song four minutes. Isn't it boring for people? For example, 'thief thief'. The punchline continues to be the same," he said.

This concept shows their strategy in packing absurd music and lyrics about the daily life of school children, from "School Toilets" to "Kebelet". These short songs actually become unique attractions, they often make jokes on stage.

"But later when it's on stage, it can be made like 'this is the longest song. You have to post it.' But it's finished because the song is just that much. Finally it becomes a joke," said Mahes.

Although the music is viral and often called pop-punk, SLR consists of Mahes, Jalil (bass), and Bumbum (drums) 'stay firm on the identity of punk rock. Mahes emphasized that their lyrics and rhythms are pure punk rock. However, they have no problem being called pop-punk because the genre spectrum is very broad.

Furthermore, regarding the songs related to school and home themes, Mahes realized that their lyrics would evolve with age, but the spirit was expected not to fade.

"The environment has also changed. Just imagine that you guys do work on school toilets. How about that," he said with a laugh.
