Tonewaves Introduces First EP Now As A New Phase Marker In Music

JAKARTA - Bandung's pop band, Tonewaves, finally launched its inaugural mini album or extended play (EP) entitled Now.

This EP, which is full of flavor exploration, is also a marker of the crucial phase for the band fronted by Jan (vocals), Rayi (bass and sequencers), Aziz (keyboards), and Giant (drums), especially after they joined under the label Pro M.

The mini album "Now" contains four tracks that honestly record various emotional dynamics that Tonewaves is currently undergoing. Instead of choosing a complicated title, the band, which was formed in May 2022, actually took a simple, straightforward title.

Tonewaves revealed the reasons behind the selection of the EP title, which apparently summarizes all of their creative phases.

"Because this is our phase (Tonewaves), where all flavors mix into one. There is joy, disappointment, fall, rise again. Everything is happening at the point now," Jan said in his statement, Tuesday, October 7.

"We want people who listen to can feel connected and have a strong relationship, as if they are also participating or are experiencing the same thing as Tonewaves songs," said Aziz.

Of the four songs presented, the track titled "Awal" was released last June. Positive responses from listeners have strengthened Tonewaves' move to string their stories together through three other songs.

This EP also presents an interesting side in terms of visuals. The EP artwork "Now" displays a clock image whose needle stops right at 3.

This visual is not just an illustration, but a symbolic representation. Number 3 hints that Tonewaves have worked for three years and are now entering an important turning point on their musical journey.

At 3 o'clock is a representation of this moment of "Now", where the pop band wants to emphasize their existence, as well as invite music lovers to feel the journey that Tonewaves have been through to date.
