JAKARTA - In commemoration of Chrisye's birthday on Tuesday, September 16, Classical Musica invited Indonesian music lovers to commemorate the work of the legend through the playlist This Is Chrisye.

Meanwhile, Chrisye, whose real name is Chrismansyah Rahadi, was born in Jakarta on September 16, 1949. His musical career began in the mid-1960s.

As a singer, Chrisye listed his name as one of the best in his generation. He performed dozens of hits, until he died picking him up at the age of 57 on March 30, 2007.

This Is Chrisye's Playlist, which was presented on Spotify, features 50 tracks, starting with work from the album Sabda Alam which was released in 1978 with the label Musica Studios.

From there, Chrisye regularly produces solo albums which later become 'classical works' in Indonesian pop music.

In addition to light romantic and pop songs, Chrisye also dares to try out more complex social and musical themes: for example on the album 'Recession' (1983), which received a commercial and critical positive response.

The album, 'Sabda Alam' and 'I Love Him' got gold certification. While several other albums, such as Sendiri, Recession, Metropolitan, and Hip Hip Hura were also successful sales.

Several BASF awards were awarded to Chrisye for his best-selling albums, including the BASF Lifetime Achievement Award and the Best Recording Artist award.

The album 'Kala Cinta Seduces' (1997), also received many awards at the Anugerah Musik Indonesia, including for Best Album and Best Producer. The opening song also won the Asia Viewer's Choice Award at the 1998 MTV VMA.

Throughout his musical career, Chrisye was known not only for her distinctive voice and easy-to-remember melody, but also for her touching works, sometimes reflective lyrics, and her ability to bridge various pop streams with cultural, romantic, and sometimes social criticism themes.

His legacy is not only in albums and songs, but also in his influence on young musicians, as well as how his works have continued to be re-carried and listened to again until now.
