Little Mix's Success At The BRIT Awards 2021 Is Their Victory For Gender Equality

JAKARTA - Girl group Little Mix made history as the first girl group to win the Best British Group award at this year's BRIT Awards.

In Little Mix's eyes, the music industry in the United Kingdom is often dominated by men. Previously, no girl band had won this award.

Little Mix is proud that they were able to survive and use their existence to promote gender equality.

"This award is not just for us - it's for the Spice Girls, Sugababes, All Saints, Girls Aloud and the whole girl group," they said of NME.

Initially Little Mix consisted of four people: Jesy, Leigh-Anne, Jade, and Perrie. However, in 2020, Jesy opted out of the group because she could not stand the pressure she received as a member of the group.

To Cosmopolitan, Jesy revealed the moment when she opted out of the group while filming for the sweet melody music video. This is the latest song from Little Mix's album Confetti.

Upon arriving on set, Jesy has a panic attack. "I feel restless. When we (were filming) making music videos, I put a lot of pressure on myself trying to lose weight," she said.

As for the brit awards, Little Mix has received seven nominations and won three of them.
