Sigit Pramono Believes That The Mount Series Jazz Can Be The Same As The Java Jazz Festival

Sigit Pramono as one of the founders of Mount Jazz revealed his close relationship with the Java Jazz Festival, a major jazz music festival initiated by Peter F Gontha in 2005.

While still serving as President Director of BNI, Sigit said, Peter Gontha came to him to ask for support.

"At that time we wanted to rebrand BNI. There, I used jazz to make changes at BNI," said Sigit during a press conference in Java Bromo, Probolinggo, Saturday, July 19.

"After three years of sponsorship, I thought about it, when I couldn't make a festival, that's why this Mount Jazz was born," he continued.

Currently, Sigit has a big vision for Mount Jazz. He believes that his performance, which has developed into Mount Series Jazz, can transform from the 'MSME festival' to a larger jazz music festival.

"But I have aspirations to beat Java Jazz too. How to do it? Yes with Mount Series Jazz. Calculated from these several series, the total will be the same as Java Jazz, but the economic impact is wider," said Sigit.

"If Java Jazz is only in metropolitan cities, but what we do is go to many areas, this alone is Bromo, Inspector General, Burangrang, Slamet, we just have to go to another mountain," he added.

In addition, Butet Kartaredjasa, who is also the founder of the Mount Jazz, said that the initial idea he built with his late sister, Djaduk Ferianto, was already so big and worthy to be proud of.

"The initial concept was when we talked to Djaduk, what we want to get from Mount Jazz is ethnic jazz. We want the power of local music as Indonesian jazz," said Butet. And now the development is extraordinary.

For information, the 2025 Mount Series Jazz was held in three series in two places. The first and second series were held at Mount Bromo, while the third series was held at Mount Ijen.

Bagas Kandiatmono as CEO of Mount Indonesia Jazz said that in the future, Mount Series Jazz will be present in more places with the concept of each one empowering local potential.

"Next year we will schedule, maybe there will be one once a year, there will be one every two years. So, we want to schedule with several other festivals that we do. Because on the other hand, we also have a festival called Buung IP Jazz, there is the Gaia Music Festival - Jazz in the Valley in Bandung, there is also Golo Mori Jazz on Flores Island. Yes, we have to share so that the schedule can be arranged," concluded Bagas.
