Fadli Zon Talks About The Role Of Music As A Country's Soft Power

JAKARTA - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon talked about the role of art, especially music, as one of the cultural products, in building the identity of a country.

According to Fadli Zon, many countries in the world use music as their own attraction for the country.

"In various parts of the world, people promote music as part of their soft power," Fadli said at a press conference opening the 2025 AMI Awards registration at Senayan, Central Jakarta recently.

Fadli stated that the Ministry of Culture also hopes for an increase in terms of quality and quantity from Indonesian music, especially more in life, the music ecosystem.

The national music industry, said Fadli, can reflect on the current Indonesian film industry, which is so productive and can compete with products from abroad.

"We see that our film ecosystem is also extraordinary. In music, we also hope that it will at least match the ecosystem and be conducive to films, which have become the host in our own country," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Culture Giring Ganesha also expressed his desire to hold a music market to support the Indonesian music ecosystem.

Reflecting on a visit to the Cannes Film Festival in France some time ago, the Ministry of Culture plans a music market, where all parties are present to introduce their products

"Over time, the Minister had an idea, that we had never made music markets. For example yesterday when we went to Cannes, it was a film market, there were producers there, there were distributors, agents, PH (production house), all opened booths," said the former Nidji vocalist.

The goal in the music market is networking and introducing themselves. There are event organizers, sound systems, lighting rental companies, venues. Everyone must be able to present. Later there will also be a vinyl market," he added.

However, until now, the exact schedule for the convention and music market has not been determined.
