JAKARTA - Ikang Fawzi became one of the special guests at the God Bless concert titled "GodBless Unplugged" in Jakarta, Saturday, May 17. He has his own memories with one of the legendary Indonesian rock bands.
Ikang recounted when his work song received an award entitled "Light Kencana" and was sung by Ahmad Albar, the figure of his idol singer.
"When it comes to God Bless, it's a must. In the past, Ahmad Albar was really my idol. Who wouldn't be idol with him. I started (music industry) from songwriters, my song won in the 1979 Prambors Song Creation Competition, that's how Ahmad Albar listened to, Wow, the opportunity to meet him," said Ikang quoting ANTARA.
He also had time to remind the lyrics of "Light Kencana" to the idol. "'Terbentanglah now all the dreams. What I want is to compete with, continue, the song continues," said Ikang to Ahmad Albar.
"I can't, I can't. I forgot, in the 70s," said the vocalist of God Bless, who is familiarly called Iyek and greeted with laughter.
Ikang told that at that time he was not yet a singer and was just a songwriter. In his meeting with Ahmad Albar, he wore his brother's suit, he came to the vocalist's studio asking for a signature.
Waiting for a while, Ikang saw Iyek pass in front of him, but unfortunately he didn't recognize him and just walked away, without greeting him.
Meanwhile, Ikang's expectations who could talk to the star failed due to Ahmad's busy schedule.
"I was really disappointed at that time, because I brought all kinds of things. I was (ready) to ask for a signature here, where is it, everything. Finally, I couldn't," he said.

The audience got carried away and sang the song created by Ian Antono in 1977.
Ikang and Ahmad Albar then continued the stage by singing the song "123" which was the work of the late Farid Hardja and Ahmad Albar.
