Music Contest Explores Alternative Pop Music In Second Studio Album, Chat At 3 Morning

JAKARTA - The Magic Competition has released a new album with the title 'Obrolan Jam 3 Pagi'. This is their second studio album, after 'Welcome to the End of the World' which was released in 2021.

The album was fully written and produced by personnel of Baskara Putra (vocals), Enrico Octaviano (drums), Natasha Udu (vocals), Rayhan Noor (guitar), and Tristan Juliano (keyboards) aimed at listeners to find different parts of the Magic Contest.

In terms of music, the 3 Morning Collapse became an arena for the Magic Competition to explore as well as explore the realm of much more organic alternative pop, which was then combined with elements of pop guitar, pop rock, and soft rock.

Sementqra in terms of lyrics, the Magic Competition chooses to withdraw from the critical and sarcastic characters that adorn the album 'Welcome to the End of the World'. On the other hand, this second studio album wants to show Magic Competition as a contemplative five musicians accompanied by emotional maturity.

"Through this album, we want to describe what our way of thinking has been like as a band," said the Magic Competition personnel through a press release received by VOI, Thursday, May 7.

They try to work on the album in an honest manner, accompanied by a desire to find answers to some questions of life in themselves.

"That's also the inspiration behind the title of this album. There was something magical when we had a conversation in the blind morning, where the conversation suddenly went deep, so we finally found the truth, peace, and maturity."

The Magic Contest ensures that there is no intentional purpose that makes the musical direction of the new album feel different from the previous album. However, their musical vision this time is a sound and a more assertive and firm voice.

"After almost five years of working as a Magic Contest, we feel that we as initiators and creators of music, are getting more and more integrated and more mature," continued the Magic Contest. "Of course, our DNA tends to be complex, as friends can feel from the album Welcome to the End of the World, still alive and breathing on our new album. You could say that in terms of music production, this new album is neater and more emotional."

Meanwhile, the 3 Morning Collapse consists of 16 numbers consisting of: one intro, two interludes filled with monologue by actress Marissa Anita and former soccer player Bambang Pamungkas, five previously released songs, and eight completely new songs.

The song with the title "If Only" was chosen as a focus track track for 3 minutes and 58 seconds which was composed like a combination of pop guitars and country pop, where the Magic Competition reflects on how the past was able to trap humans in the word 'perhaps'.
