Agnez Mo Says There Are Parties Who Lie Regarding Royalty Payment Contracts

JAKARTA - Agnez Mo finally opened up about the decision of the Central Jakarta Commercial Court which decided to have committed copyright infringement by performing the song Just Ticket without Ari Bias' permission as the creator.

Meanwhile, Ari Bias in his lawsuit said Agnez performed his song without permission at the W Superclub Surabaya on May 25, 2023, H Club Jakarta on May 26, 2023, and W Superclub Bandung on May 27, 2023 organized by PT Aneka Bintang Gading (ABG)

While a guest on Deddy Corbuzier's Close The Door podcast, Agnez argued that licensing issues and royalty payments are the responsibility of the organizers, and not the singer or performer.

When asked about Ari Bias' statement in the news which stated that there was a contract with the organizers that charged the royalty payment to the performers Agnez called it a lie.

That's a lie. That there's a contract saying that permits and royalties... That's a lie. That's a false statement. That's not true," Agnez said, citing Deddy Corbuzier's YouTube channel, Tuesday, February 18.

Agnez said that he immediately contacted ABG when he heard the news about the contract.

"When I was hearing that, I had time to ask the organizers of the event, and I asked, 'You really said that? This is a lie.' And they said, 'Eh, we never made that statement at all. ,' said the 38-year-old singer.

Agnez said that all professional performances he underwent in Indonesia were carried out with a contract template (pola) that came from the management that oversees him, where the contract included a clause regarding other costs beyond his appearance (including royalties) which was the responsibility of the organizers.

"And you know what's crazy, my contract has articles of confidentiality, that's why I can't give it to the public, because I have to respect the articles that we have signed. Only that means, actually in the contract, yes, I don't know what they saw, what the plaintiff saw, "said Agnez.

And in the cave template, everything is written that there are a lot of honorariums (and a clean receipt). And there is an even clearer writing, other costs that arise from this agreement are borne by the first party the organizers are completely . So that's why I'm actually confused, how come there is a statement like that," he continued.

Previously, Minola Sebayang as Ari Bias' attorney stated that there was a contract between the organizer and Agnez Mo which stated that royalty payments were borne by the performer.

"According to the organizer's statement, there is a contract that states, to ask permission from the creator (of the license) and royalty payment is Agnez Mo's responsibility. And that has been included with the honorarium," Minola told the media crew on June 21, 2024.

In a civil lawsuit citing the verdict Ari Bias also stated the same thing in his lawsuit, which stated "if all payments and including the use of licenses or requesting permission of the Plaintiff to be created commercially in the three shows have been submitted to the Defendant."

However, the evidence presented by Ari Bias did not include a contract or agreement between Agnez Mo and ABG in question.
