JAKARTA - Indonesian singers, in recent days, made similar uploads on Instagram. They made a post that read VISION: Indonesian Voice Vibration with the caption Our Voice.

Those who made the upload were big names in the national music industry, ranging from Ariel NOAH who has been working for more than two decades, to young singers such as Bernadya.

They see a major challenge in the royal system, and encourage the Copyright Act (UUHC) to be implemented fairly.

However, behind the sparkling stages and progress of the Indonesian music industry, there are still big challenges that need to be resolved immediately. The royalties system, especially in the realm of performing rights, still requires fairer, more transparent, and accountable management so that the rights of the music actors are truly fulfilled.

We encourage the state to ensure that the implementation of the Copyright Law runs fairly for all music people. If there is a discrepancy or polemic in the rules, the state needs to be present to ensure a solution that is transparent and does not side with a handful of parties. As a music industry actor, we see that Copyright regulations today often lead to various interpretations that trigger debate without concrete solutions. Therefore, revision of the Copyright Law and its implementing regulations are important to make it clearer, unambiguous, and able to protect the rights of songwriters, singers, musicians, and performance actors fairly for the entire ecosystem of the music industry.

This movement also sees the rights of singers who are not appreciated properly.

Singers and performers are an inseparable part of a song. But until now we feel that our rights are still not appreciated properly. We care and demand fair legal certainty. Our rights as performers must be guaranteed and protected in a professional and sustainable system. There should no longer be any gap in appreciation for our role in the music industry.
