Keenan Nasution Reveals Collaboration Project With Rich Brian

JAKARTA - Keenan Nasution is preparing a collaboration that has never been imagined before. The frontman of the band Gipsy will have a duet with rapper Rich Brian.

The 72-year-old musician said the collaboration with Brian would bring back the "Cakrawala Senja", a song that became the material for the album "At the Angan-Angan Boundary" and was released in 1978.

"So there is one song, the name is Cakrawala Senja. It's a difficult song actually," Keenan told the media crew through a recent virtual connection.

"So, the song will be, 'Cakrawala Senja', I'm the one who fills the vocals, he fills the rap. So it's mixed like that," he continued.

Keenan also explained that the song to be reworked was composed by Fariz Roestam Moenaf alias Fariz RM.

"But it's not actually my song. I recorded it, Fariz RM created it. There were two people who made it," he said.

Meanwhile, collaboration with Rich Brian is still in the making of music sampling. Keenan still doesn't know exactly how 88rising as the rapper's record label will work on this collaboration.

"Still in the culinary process and given sampling. The important thing is that I know the part of my mother that I have to sing," he said.

Furthermore, Keenan talked about how he communicated with Rich Brian, where the rapper admitted that he often listened to his works.

"What surprised me was that Rich Brian was in his 20s, it was impossible for him to hear (my own work), definitely from his father," said Keenan.

"It turned out that Rich Brian said, 'I've heard Mr's song.' There were Americans who told him my song, continued, he was interested, finally we collaborated," he continued.

In addition, the collaboration between Keenan Nasution and Rich Brian is expected to be introduced to the public in May.
