Ify Alyssa Opens The Possibility Of Making A More Rocky Song

JAKARTA - Since he was no longer a member of Blink and started solo careers in 2017, Ify Alyssa has consistently carried pop-jazz music in his works.

Not without reason when Ify chose to work by carrying out the pop-jazz genre. He admitted that he was close to the works of jazz musicians since childhood.

"It seems that from a young age jazz has always been listened to, from a very small age, it's even very familiar with jazz. It seems that I'm quite close to me," said Ify, when met in Kemang, South Jakarta recently.

Ify stated that he did not rule out singing a more traditional jazz style or arguably more jazz.

In his latest album, Menata, he even intentionally included a single Roda-Roda which is arranged with samba style.

"On this album, there is the song "Roda-Roda", which is more of a samba genre. That's just an introduction, maybe I want to first transition to my listeners, if Ify can turn into any genre he likes or he wants to make his music, "said Ify.

"And it turns out that the response is fine for the "Roda-Roda", although indeed in numbers, the love song is above. I'm just happy to be able to share my idealistic music," he continued.

Like Laufey in the United States, which succeeded in bringing together jazz with listeners from Gen Z, Ify also assessed that similar phenomena could occur in the Indonesian music industry.

"It's very possible. Because I feel that music listeners who are now more on the verse too, continue to be more able to accept various music genres. So, from my point of view as a singer-songwriter, it's even more free to work, not divided into genres, like if in Indonesia you have to pop or you have to be more confused, no. It's more free to feel," he said.

Furthermore, Ify expressed his preference for old songs. In the production of the latest album, he prefers old songs to be used as references.

"It seems that it fits into the old-school heart of the song. When you listen to old songs, it feels like it's always been everlasting, long-lasting. And I want to make an instant classic song, if you listen to it at all times it's good," he concluded.
