Still Nine Years Old, Grandson Wants To Continue Jack Marpaung's Music Heritage

JAKARTA - Novita Dewi revealed that her only child, Zachary Benzion Hutajulu, wanted to continue her grandfather's musical legacy, Jack Marpaung.

"He said this, 'Jay will be the one who uses opung (heelhead).' While it should be the successor to Papi from Marpaung too, if Jay is Hutajulu. He didn't continue his father's legacy, he instead wanted to continue his opinion," said Dewi after the funeral procession for Jack Marpaung in San Diego Hills, Thursday, January 9.

The singer who graduated from the X Factor Indonesia event said that Jay, who is currently nine years old, did seem to have musical talent, but his desire to become a musician grew after his grandfather died on Sunday, January 5.

"(If) he has a lot of talent. Right now, yes. It's normal for children to play football. Now that my father has died, he really wants to sing," said Dewi.

"We are also confused, before we were given a mic and didn't want to sing in front of people, (After) his opung died, he wanted to hold the mic all the time," he continued.

According to Dewi, Jay was very close to his grandfather. The closeness of the two is considered a strong factor in why Jay's desire to become a musician is getting bigger.

"If I 'snare' papa to my house, the two of them were downstairs, in my house there were two floors, Jay could be all day (with his grandfather). And I saw from CCTV, it was Jay if he was busy watching it, it would take a little while, five minutes, he was coming to papapi," said Dewi.

Realizing her child's desire, Dewi expressed her readiness to give full support.

"Yes, we'll see. If we will direct it, but later God will decide," said Dewi.

Previously, Dewi also expressed her hope to continue to maintain the legacy of her father's music. As a singer, he wants to continue singing on stage.

"Yes, I just pray that I can sing, I can continue Jack Marpaung's legacy (heritance) to his grandchildren," he said.
