Lifting Ismail Marzuki's Works, Musical Mar Held Will Be Present At The End Of February

JAKARTA - A musical performance that features the legendary works of Ismail Marzuki will soon be present. Initiated by ArtSwara, this stage tells a love story during Indonesia's struggle for independence.

The storyline will focus on the dynamics of the romance of a soldier named Mar and a nurse named Aryati in 1946.

From an official statement quoted from ANTARA, this performance will begin to be held on 26-28 February 2025 at Ciputra Artpreneur, Ciputra World Jakarta. Musician Dian HP will act as music director, composer, vocal arranger, and librettist.

Ismail Marzuki's works are presented with a bold and inspiring musical arrangement, featuring the jazz nuances of the Glen Miller era, and reflecting the spirit of Bandung Lautan Api.

The "Mar" show invites the audience to feel a love story, sacrifice, and extraordinary resilience in difficult times.

Through Nin's life memories, the audience will be brought back to youth, watching a love story that grows in the midst of the nation's struggle.

The story of "Mar," which was born from Maera Panigoro's original idea, was written by Titien Watimena and directed by Wawan Sofwan.

"The 'Mar' which is presented with the 13th production of ArtSwara is an invitation to witness the beauty of love, the power of sacrifice, and the wisdom of music that connects generations. Through 'Mar', ArtSwara also broadcasts that Ismail Marzuki's priceless legacy will continue to live and inspire future generations," said Executive Producer ArtSwara Maera Panigoro.

A number of musical actors who will appear in "Mar" are Gabriel Harvianto who plays Mar and Galabby Thahira as Aryati, as well as a number of supporting actors and actresses, among others; Taufan Purbo Kusumo, Ni Made Ayu Vania Aurellia, Bima Zeno Pooroe and Witririe.

Producer Mar, Narindra Kukila explained that musical performances are a form of art rich in expression, combining various elements to create deep experiences for the audience.
