Novita Dewi Wants To Continue The Legacy Of The Late Music Jack Marpaung

JAKARTA - Singer Novita Dewi ensured that she would continue to be active in the music world. He wants to continue singing as a form of continuing the musical heritage of Jack Marpaung, who recently passed away to the Creator on Sunday, January 5.

"Yes, I just pray that I can sing, I can continue Jack Marpaung's legacy to his children and grandchildren," said Novita Dewi to the media crew at the funeral home in Bekasi, Monday, January 6.

Dewi, who became known after participating in the first edition of Indonesia's X Factor event in 2012 and came out as a champion, admitted that her music career could not be separated from her father's role, who has a big name as a singer and songwriter for Batak pop.

"Because I have inherited my father's brave nature. I can do this because it is a big name that God has given to papa. And my career can be like this, I can be a person, because of the great name of papa that God loves," he said.

The 46-year-old singer realized that it was not easy to keep singing. He also asked for strength from God, in order to continue his father's musical legacy.

"But tell me to God, strengthen me to be able to live the days ahead, sing in my career," said Dewi.

"Especially if he sings his songs, he often decides. I often, my papa is still alive, I sing in front of him the song, I cry. How is this? This is what I am afraid of," he added.

For information, Jack Marpaung is known as one of the leaders of the Indonesian entertainment world, especially for people from the Batak tribe. Born in Balige, North Sumatra, Jack started his career as a singer and songwriter who combined traditional Batak elements with a modern touch.

For almost 20 years, since the mid-1990s, Jack has produced dozens of works that are still being performed by the Batak ethnic community, such as Surat Narara, O Ale Inang, Hu Andung Ma Damang, and much more.
