Vinyl Slank Just Out 2024, Late? Kaka Gives An Explanation

JAKARTA - Slank as one of the biggest bands in the history of the Indonesian music industry has released 25 studio albums and dozens of other music albums, but none of its physical releases are circulated in vinyl or disk form.

Slank's first Vinyl just realized after the band based in Gang Potlot celebrated its 41st birthday on December 26. They introduced vinyl from the album "Joged", which was previously digitally released in 2023.

For Slank, releasing vinyl after 41 years is not at all late. Kaka (vocals) said that so far Slank had not released vinyl because it did not match the segment of the listener.

"Later? Yes, not really. We thought we used to go public," said Kaka, during a press conference at Slank's headquarters in Gang Potlot, Duren Tiga, South Jakarta recently.

Kaka assessed that when Slank was on its way to success in the music industry, physical releases such as vinyl were not common. Only a handful of collectors can afford it.

However, things have changed in recent years. When music is more accessible digitally, there are many fans and collectors from young people who are interested in buying physical releases, especially vinyl.

Meanwhile, Bimbim (drums) said that the release of the first vinyl was Slank's wish for a long time. Meanwhile, the album "Joged" was chosen because it was the latest album they introduced.

Not only does it contain songs from the album 'Joged', the release in vinyl contains two new songs that have never been published, namely 'Don't Go First' and Lelucon Usang.

"Anyway, here is an appeal that Slank's new song is in this vinyl, which we don't broadcast digitally, not to be spread through social or digital media, in any form, for avoiding the ITE Law," said Bimbim.

"So if suddenly something is circulating, there is a problem, it means we are the ones who spread it, we are not the ones who made it," he concluded.
