Grabbing Three AMI Awards Trophies, Bernadya: A Burden and Motivation

JAKARTA - Bernadya's second participation in the Anugerah Musik Indonesia (AMI) Awards has sweet fruit. The 20-year-old songwriters won in three categories, namely Best Album, Best Pop Songwriter (with Petra Sihombing), and Best Pop Album.

This victory makes Bernadya's musical journey in 2024 so complete. Viral on social media, broke Spotify's listeners' record, appeared on the big stage, and closed the year by bringing home the first three AMI Awards.

In the course of his career, which is still old as corn, the soloist from Surabaya does not deny that this victory is a burden in itself, especially with his success in prestigious categories.

"Beban, of course, the burden and motivation for me will continue to improve in the future," Bernadya told the media crew after the 27th AMI Awards peak night at Ciputra Artpreneur, South Jakarta on Wednesday, December 4.

He also felt honored, being able to participate in coloring the Indonesian music industry which has many genres and types of music, such as what is illustrated by the 62 categories presented at this award event.

"Yes, I'm really sad, I mean touched, because this is the first time I've received an AMI Awards and quite a lot," he said.

"I'm sure the efforts made by all musicians are equally big. But from myself, what I've experienced quite a lot in this year, I don't know, that experience made me cry on stage.."

With all due respect to music people, especially those who were nominated, Bernadya expressed his gratitude.

I dedicate this Cup to all musicians in the same category, because everything is feasible. And also to all who have supported me whatever my condition is, and who supported me at a time when I didn't believe in myself," he concluded.
