Sheila On 7 Trying To Have A Lot Of New Things In Good Memory Single

JAKARTA - Sheila On 7 (SO7) launched a new single entitled 'Good Memory'. This song will be the first release of Duta (vocals), Eross (guitar), and Adam (bass) since the single 'Favorite Film' released in 2018.

The 'Good Memory' is written with a different approach. If most of the SO7 songs talk about romance, in this song the relationship between parents and their children is discussed.

Eross said, 'Good Memory' was written during the Covid-19 pandemic. At that time, the guitarist admitted that he was confused about the situation. Personally, he is also worried about the people closest to him.

What I have lived with the children is a good memory. That's the trigger," Eross said during a press conference in Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta, Monday, November 25.

The new atmosphere is not only present in terms of song themes. SO7 also involves several young musicians, who in recent performances have indeed become friends of Duta, Eross, and Adam on stage. They are Elang Nuraga (guitar), Badminton (keyboards), Bounty Ramdhan (drums), and Aishameglio (background vocals).

For the last name, Aishameglio, is the eldest daughter of the Ambassador who some time ago was also involved in a five-city tour.

"Luckily, Sheila On 7 is currently surrounded by young people who are far from us. Those who make this music can finally be relevant to listeners from various generations," said Eross.

In addition, 'Good Memory' is the first song to process post-production in Japan. After recording all the instruments and vocals in Yogyakarta, SO7 was assisted by Yuta Yoneyama for mixing and Hidezaku Sakai for mastering at Sony Music Studios, Akasaka, Interest City, Tokyo.

"What makes the difference in our opinion is mixing and mastering, because it's related to the engineer's taste, that's why we want to try a new experience there," said Adam.

In addition to conducting the mixing-mastering process, SO7 also recorded live performance videos of several of their songs in the same studio.

"It's just different, because if you take live, the emotions are definitely more intense, while tracking multitracks are usually full of caution. Tracking live is called a little careless and sometimes that's what makes the atmosphere more lively," said the bassist.

"One more thing, the atmosphere in Japan that is fun is about its equipment. The tools there are really dreams, in the sense that musicians always want to see studio tools in a more advanced country. Well, that's how I feel. The tools are very possible for us to do a comfortable tracking live with quality that is guaranteed," concluded Eross.
