JAKARTA - Coming as a newcomer, Caldera has just launched its first EP, ‘Rona Merah Pipi Tak Selalu Berarti Tersipu’ today, Friday, November 15. Released independently, this EP from Caldera features five songs with various interesting nuances.

The single “Rabun” which was released at the end of August is one of the materials in it. The strains of Indonesian music that are thick with vintage nuances, combined with a touch of bossa nova, and caldera’s effeminate vocals throughout this mini album take us all to a space full of nostalgia and deepest outpourings of the heart.

The lyrics that Caldera wrote throughout this EP are a combination of various conversations, poems, and fragments of her thoughts which were then developed into five full songs, namely “Resah”, “Renung”, “Rabun”, “Ranjang”, and “Rekah”, each with its own unique story.

Each fragment of lyrics on this EP was collected by Caldera together with its producer, Heston Prasetyo, to then tell the various stories that this EP brings. Starting from the secrets kept by a woman, the struggle to stand alone, our blindness by someone, the meaning of true love, to the moment Caldera was reborn when she found herself.

For Caldera, this first EP aims to arouse the curiosity of her listeners, through how we process our feelings and convey them according to what we want. Just like Caldera who transformed into herself completely through this EP.

“The songs on this EP summarize a person’s journey to becoming their true self. I hope all listeners can realize that life rarely goes smoothly all the time. However, along with the flow that carries us, we can finally find who we really are to finally place ourselves as the heart of this journey,” said Caldera in a press release received by VOI, November 15.

As if it were destiny, Caldera believes that what is truly ours will eventually find us. “To finally feel complete, hopefully we can truly find ourselves,” he concluded.

Last August, Caldera released the single “Rabun” which became Caldera’s first work in 2024 and the first single from the EP ‘Rona Merah Pipi Tak Selalu Berarti Tersipu’.

Caldera caught the attention of Indonesian music lovers through her cover of Ismail Marzuki’s song “Rindu Lukisan” which was featured in the Netflix series Gadis Kretek and she performed it with Rei Naldy. Caldera’s version of “Rindu Lukisan” has reached almost 1.4 million streams on Spotify since its release in October 2023.
