Lionel Richie Reveals The Biggest 'Star' In We Are The World Recording

JAKARTA - Lionel Richie revealed how the atmosphere during the recording session of We Are The World was held in California, United States on January 28, 1985.

With so many major musicians gathering in one studio, Richie calls Ray Charles the 'largest star' who gets the most respect.

Richie said evidence of Ray Charles' greatness that night was evident when the atmosphere inside the studio changed instantly when the singer of Hit The Road Jack entered.

"So we all walked around with our little egos, and we had hit footage, and well, we were great. And then Ray Charles came in, everyone was silent," he said.

"And Billy Joel said, well, it's over, Ray is here."

The man who wrote We Are The World with Michael Jackson also talked about the success of the song. He said what was produced exceeded expectations.

When the song was released, he was surprised to see many television stations broadcasting how the song We Are The World was sung by many people in various countries.
