JAKARTA - The eleventh edition of the Ubud Village Jazz Festival (UVJF) was successfully held on August 2 and 3 last week. Not only memorable for visitors, this event is also a separate satisfaction for dozens of performers from within and outside the country to appear entertaining during the two days of implementation at Sthala Ubud Bali, Gianyar.

Those who performed on the first day were Rason, Benny Irawan Trio, Uwe Plath Quartet (Germany) with Dian Pratiwi, New Centropezn with Horns (Russia), Jazz Centrum, Noe Clerc Trio (France), Rodrigo Pajero Quartet (Spain), and Andien Fazmail Quinteto.

Meanwhile, the performers for the second day are Collective Harmony, Fawr, Eric Chong Trio With Sinuksma & Kanhaiya (Hong Kong-Indonesia), Simon Praticco Trio (Italy), Claude Diallo Trio With Indra Gupta & Gustu Brahmanta (Swiss-Indonesia), New Centropezn Quartet (Russia), Zakorski-Skowronki Project Feat Kajetan Galas (Poland), and Galaxy Bigband.

Continuing to carry the idealism with a 100 percent jazz musician line-up, UVJF is an event for musicians to show their skills, which is the main life of jazz music.

" Jazz music gives me freedom to express myself with all its regularity," said Dian Pratiwi, one of the performers, in his statement.

Meanwhile, Yuri Mahatma as co-founder of UVJF said that this event was home to jazz music with all its subgenres, ranging from swing, bebop, ragtime, smooth jazz, jazz fusion, free jazz to avant-garde jazz.

"Not only free jazz, but just jazz," said Yuri.

With all the beauty, flexibility, as well as complex technicalities, jazz continues to be an infinite place of expression. Ubud Village Jazz Festival 2024, even though it has ended, wants to continue to leave traces of sweet memories and valuable experiences that will always be remembered by its fans.

"See you at the Ubud Village Jazz Festival next year," concluded Yuri Mahatma.
