Little Fingers Starts A New Music Phase Through A Single Titled Koji

JAKARTA - The jazz-electronic trio from Jakarta, Littlefingers has re-launched a new single entitled 'Koji'. This song is the first release after the EP GYMNASIUM which came out last year.

Koji itself is processed rice which is the raw material in making Japanese salted soy sauce, or better known as shoyu.

Just as being a musician, even though he is competent, a musician must still promote himself, continue to write songs, seek connections, and so on. This was felt by every Littlefingers personnel who incidentally were musicians of the session.

In this single, Littlefingers presents a different style from previous releases, which marks the presence of a new phase in the journey of Chika Olivia's (keyboard) music, Tjdika (bass), and David Halim (drums).

Stay with the choice of electronic sound, but this time Littlefingers presents simpler notes. This is against the habit of writing their songs so far.

"We as a band want to continue to be consistent in working, producing honest works and in accordance with our band's personality but don't want to be boring and stagnant. Therefore, in the process of writing and working on Koji, along with songs that will be released after Koji," Chika said in his statement, Friday, July 26.

"We are looking for new ways to produce fresh sounds, through the use of different instruments from previous releases, against instincts and responses that usually appear in the head in music work, more tonal and simple composition writing, and much more," Chika continued.

Koji is also the opening single towards the second album which is scheduled to be released at the end of this year. Littlefingers explained that Koji is an expression of the journey of each member as a musician.

"Be a musician, especially in Indonesia, it's not easy at all and full of twists and turns. Today we can perform on a very big stage with thousands of viewers, the next day we can just perform at a cafe without any spectators. Because of the experience of living the three of us as musicians, both and bad, this second album was written," concluded David Halim.
