FESMI Complains About Problems Faced By Cafe Musicians To Sandiaga Uno

JAKARTA - Febrian Nindyo, guitarist for HIVI! Who is also the Secretary General of the Federation of Indonesian Musicians (FESMI) revealed the problems faced by cafe musicians today.

When cafe musicians began to realize that what they were doing was a profession that needed protection, other parties could not appreciate it.

Febrian gave an example of a complaint that went to FESMI, where cafe musicians in Jakarta who wanted to apply for a work contract were actually rejected by the cafe owner.

"There are complaints from musicians in Jakarta, they say when regular musicians want to apply contracts to cafe owners, so that everyone cooperates with responsibility, what happens? The musicians are cut, replaced by other bands who feel they don't need contracts for cooperation," said Febrian Nindyo when opening the BISIK-BISIK event at the Indonesia Kaya Gallery, Central Jakarta on Wednesday, July 24.

"And what's worse, after the musician's obligation is done, the gig has been completed, the payment is in arrears for several months," continued Febrian.

Feeling that the music profession must be protected, said Febrian, FESMI intervened and complained about the matter to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno.

"And we were here, we were nervous, we had an audience, and last Monday we reported it directly to Sandiaga Uno," said the guitarist.

Furthermore, Febri invites musicians to work together, so that all problems faced can be overcome together.

According to him, musicians in many cases do not get attention.

"The fact is that we are musicians alone, we are alone, no one really pays attention except ourselves. We don't have the bargaining power because we are alone, only concerned with our own wallets, stomachs, our own luck, and others," concluded Febrian Nindyo.
