JAKARTA - Oli Sykes revealed that one of the songs from Bring Me The Horizon's latest album, Post Human: Nex Gen, contains criticism of the conflict that has occurred between Israel and Palestine.

The song in question by the vocalist is the seventh track entitled 'A Bullet w/My Name On', the result of collaboration with Underoath.

"This song as a whole is a criticism of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict," said Oli Sykes, citing NME, Monday, June 3.

Sykes said the song highlights two things, namely how people take the wrong perspective and how world rulers deal with the war that occurs.

"People discuss and view geopolitical issues through lenses as blaming and justifying the perspective of empathy and emotional engagement, usually with a very shallow understanding of the conflict," Sykes said.

"And the second is how war itself is handled by the people in power," he added.

Furthermore, Sykes said the 'A Bullet w/My Name On' took the perspective of war victims from the Israeli and Palestinian conflicts.

"This song is written from the point of view of a war victim's imagination, and the entire piece containing the lyrics is meant to summarize despair and anger," said Oli Sykes.

"The lyrics are influenced by the location of the conflict and its religious meaning, more than my desire to surprise and offend," he continued.

In summary, the song was meant to reflect my emotions towards the ongoing humanitarian conflicts and crises in Gaza, not my hatred for the great JC. I try to see how the Western world not only morally fails in dealing with the rights and humanity of the innocent Palestinians and Israelis, but also perpetuates the cycle of violence and suffering. What's more, it highlights the tragic reality that, in a war that occurs on both sides, real humans are dying, innocent unless born in a war zone.
