Mandisa Contestant American Idol Dies At 47 Years Old

JAKARTA - Mandisa Lynn Hundley, singer of American Idol's fifth season reportedly died at the age of 47.

The publication of Mandisa reported that the deceased was found dead at his home on Thursday, April 18 last week.

However, it did not explain what caused the death of the Grammy Awards-winning singer.

"Currently, we don't know the cause of death or further details," the publication said, as reported by the BBC, Monday, April 22.

"We ask for your prayers for his family and close friends during this very difficult time," he continued.

Another singer who also graduated from American Idol, Danny Gokey expressed his sorrow through his X account.

To remember my friend, Mandisa. Life is short. Never waste the opportunity to share Jesus' love. You never know when this will be their last, wrote Danny Gokey.

For information, Mandisa took part in the American Idol event in 2006. But his journey stopped in ninth position.

Mandisa brought home the Grammys in the Best Contemporary Christian Music category for the recording, Overcomer in 2014.

The singer achieved great success while forging a career in Christian music. Some of the recordings included What If We Were Real (2011), Freedom (2009), and True Beauty (2007) also received Grammy nominations.
