JAKARTA - Dwiki Dharmawan has been poor across the world music genre. He brought elements of traditional Indonesian music in a more modern form and has been displayed on many world stages.
According to Dwiki Dharmawan, the authenticity of the music he performed with other Indonesian musicians abroad became his own attraction.
"The important thing is that the music is authentic, that's why they are interested in finding out further," said Dwiki Dharmawan in Gambir, Central Jakarta recently.
Dwiki said many musicians and music researchers were interested in the method he did, which transforms Sundanese gamelan sounds into keyboards. This is done by considering aspects of the frequency of the tone, character of the sound, and others.
The 57-year-old musician admitted that many of his works received appreciation abroad. Several foreign music critics have paid attention to his work, even Dwiki was invited to be a speaker at the world music forum.
"My music, there is no album I am not reviewing with them, it must be reviewed," said Dharmawan.
"It shows their extraordinary interest in Indonesian music. I was also finally invited a lot (to be a speaker). That year there might be how many times," he concluded.
