The Facts Behind Coldplay's 'Fix You' Song Performed By BTS

JAKARTA - The song Fix You from Coldplay became a discussion after being performed by the South Korean group, BTS, at the MTV Unplugged event last Wednesday.

Fix You is one of Coldplay's most famous songs. With the concept of a church-style organ, this song was created by Chris Martin, vocalist of Coldplay to entertain his ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow after the death of her father, Bruce Paltrow.

The instrument used was Bruce's old keyboard that was given to Gwyneth. In addition, Coldplay was also inspired by Jimmy Cliff and Elbow's songs.

In the first part, the lyrics "When you get what you want, but not what you need" are a reference to The Rolling Stones' You Can't Always Get What You Want.

Then in the chorus, "Lights will guide you home/And ignite your bones/And I will try to fix you" becomes an expression of Chris' support for Gwyneth. Even though Gwyneth lost her father, Chris continued to accompany Gwyneth.

The song Fix You is one of the tracks from the X & Y album. When it was first released in 2005, there was Hurricane Katrina and Coldplay accounted for all song sales for the American Red Cross Hurricane 2005 Relief.

Coldplay knows that BTS performed the song. They then shared a video of BTS's appearance and praised them in Korean.
