Former Punk Legend Drummer The Misfits And Buddy Rich Student Manny Martinez Dies

JAKARTA - Manny Martinez, drummer for punk legend The Misfits, died at the age of 69.

The news was announced on social media by Zach Rector, Martinez's friend. So far no cause of death has been revealed.

He continued: I remember Manny telling me several times Buddy expressed her opinion when she came, & her story about her famous family bar... The original period of MISFITS.

Rector added that Martinez was a versatile person, often checking the renovation of his house which was built in 1872.

"More than just a musician, an artist & a carpenter... he is my friend," he concluded. "Rest in peace, Manny".

Manny Martinez joined The Misfits at the start of their 1977 formation, quickly replacing the original drummer Mr. Jim.

While technically he wasn't the first drummer to be recruited for the band, he appeared in the debut singles of The Misfits, Cough/cool and side B, She.

Martinez apparently also introduced vocalist Glenn Danzig to bassist Jerry Only. He stayed with The Misfits for about a year and played eight live shows before leaving the band.
