Openness In New Things Is A Way To Survive 28 Years

JAKARTA - Band Getah, which has just released a third album, is known as one of the rock bands that has had a long journey. Since 1995, they have often changed formations and personnel.

For the bassist Marcel Wetik, Getah's 28-year journey is a separate achievement. As an initial member who still survives today, he said the band was a unit that did not depend on its personnel.

"The tension is not a band that depends on personnel, when the personnel leave, the band disbands," Marcel said when met in Blok M, South Jakarta last week.

"I am the longest member, even though I am no longer in the band, Getah will not be disbanded," he continued.

Meanwhile, the main reason Marcel called makes Getah survive and work until now is the character of an open band. Getah doesn't want to shut herself off from the existing changes.

As an example, Marcel said Getah tried to explore with the new sound in his third album.

Personal I tried a new sound-sound on this album. Not because we want nostalgia, we continue to maintain the character of Getah's music and don't open up to new things," Marcel said.

"The debate is a band that is open to new things. We always see and try to explore with something new. If we feel it is suitable, we will use it," he added.

For information, Getah's new album titled From Within. Thus, Without released on November 24. Wild Hunt became their mainstay song on this album.

This album involves Once Mekel as an executive producer. Not only that, the former Dewa vocalist also performed vocals on the song Wild Hunt.
