Jay Weinberg Calls Joining Slipknot An Unplaced Experience

JAKARTA - Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg reflected his time in Slipknot, claiming that the rememory and experience' he had while joining the Iowa band was irreplaceable.

This update comes as Slipknot shared an official statement on social media last month claiming that it was "intending to thrive", and made a "creative decision" that Weinberg was leaving the band.

His departure comes 10 years after he joined Slipknot, and just months after keyboardist Craig Jones left this masked metal unit in June.

Weinberg joined Slipknot ahead of the release of the album.5: The Grey Chapter in 2014. He replaced original drummer Joey Jordison, who left in December 2013 and died in 2021 at the age of 46.

Following the announcement, Weinberg revealed online how he was broken-hearted and blind' by Slipknot's decision.

Now, the drummer is once again reflecting on his time in the band and says that the memories he has had for 10 years are irreplaceable.

"For 19 years, my goal in music and art has always been to maintain a kind of forward movement. Sometimes it feels a bit paradoxical to look into the rearview mirror, but some moments and milestones are significant enough to take a break and reflect," he wrote while sharing a photo of the four masks he wore while on Slipknot.

"Today marks the 10th anniversary of me being part of something I trust. I don't keep many memories, but for me this represents a decade of focused and fiery dedication to the forward movement," he added.

"Throughout that time, I learned a lot about the application, tenacity, and satisfaction of being committed to breaking the threshold of creativity; achieving these artistic goals through constant and concentrated hard work everything is driven by true love for music."

"In some ways, the person wearing the mask on the right and the person wearing the mask on the left feel like two completely different individuals are only separated by the experience gained, long distances, created friendship, and connections to the strengthened instrument. and deepening far beyond what I think is possible."

In addition to.5: The Gray Chapter, Weinberg also played on the albums We Are Not Your Kind (2019) and The End, So Far (2022). He played his final show with Slipknot at the Hell & Heaven festival in Mexico on November 3 after stopping for Jakarta in the previous March.

Following his unexpected dismissal, the drummer underwent surgery to repair his left hip and cut off his deformed thighbone.
