Called Ahmad Dhani's Inspiration In Music, This Is Dadang S Manaf's Response

JAKARTA - Dadang S Manaf's name was known as one of the top musicians and songwriters in the Indonesian music industry in the 1980s. The song was sung by many famous singers at that time, such as Ermy Kulit, Hetty Koes Endang, Iis Sugianto, to Nike Ardilla.

Not only that, Dadang S Manaf is also often said to be an inspiration for Ahmad Dhani who is his younger brother. Dhani is considered to have a big influence from her brother who was already in the Indonesian music industry.

In response to this, Dadang did not deny it but also did not fully agree. He said he had never actively directed Ahmad Dhani to become a musician and songwriter.

"I used to go to music school, so I learned from a book called Introduction to Music Theory, a song composition book. It's just that my younger brother tends to have classic music, he's 8 or 9 years old, then he runs to jazz," said Dadang S Manaf when met in Kemang, South Jakarta last week.

"Well, what affects me is that I am his brother, and this brother is a songwriter. That's all the influence, nothing more than that," he continued.

Dadang said that Dhani when he was a teenager was independent enough to learn music. He said that his younger brother was indeed a big fan of Queen, and started participating in music festivals since high school.

When Dhani had formed Dewa 19 with four friends, Dadang said that his younger brother had visited his residence in Jakarta. He also recommended several relations so that Dhani cs can record.

"He was getting more and more confident and finally came to my house. I didn't immediately tell him, I just told him a good sound, a good operator. At that time I told Studio 15, I was looking for a good sound and the best operator," concluded Dadang S Manaf.
