Philip Selway Gives Signs Radiohead Reunion Is Getting Closer

Drummer Philip Selway signaled that Radiohead would reunite.

Appearing in a live broadcast with Crow Hill Company on Friday, November 24, said Selway about Radiohead's return.

We actually took a break for a while; the last show we did was in 2018, but we're back at that point right now. There's something special about that relationship - creative relationships and personal relationships - actually, you can't get it elsewhere," Selway said via Exclaim.

"We all came back to that point and thought, 'OK, we're taking a break - this is it. It feels like something we need to dive back and really explore and see what other directions we can take," he continued.

Radiohead's last release was A Moon Shaped Pool in 2016. Some fans remain skeptical of the potential reunion due to Thom Yorke and Johnny Greenwood's side project, The Smile, releasing the album Wall Of Eyes next year and starting a tour in the UK and the European Union.

This isn't the first time Selway has hinted that Radiohead reunion will happen in the near future. Earlier this year, the drummer said he and his bandmates would soon meet to start doing something.

"We will gather in early [2023], and I'm sure we will start looking for other ideas for what will happen next," he said.

He continued by telling Prog Magazine [via MusicNews]: We always talk about matter (songs). But in terms of actual collective projects, beyond the Kid A and Amnesiac things we have done [the 'Kid Amnesia' interactive project and exhibition of 'Kid Amnesia' in 2021], this is more important for us when that will happen. We discussed that, but now everyone is doing their own thing."

"When this pandemic occurs, we always plan to stay away from Radiohead, so we can continue with other things. But this means that these other projects will develop, so we give time for all of these projects to run as needed. But yes, we will get together soon and in the next few years there will be something there."
