JAKARTA - For songwriters, cooperation or collaboration when creating a song is not something that can be avoided. There are several collaboration moments that are deemed necessary.

Aldri Dataviadi, the bass player Samsons who has recently been busy at Massive Music Entertainment, said that more than one person had to get different treatment.

"If the song is composed by two people or more, there must be an agreement at the beginning regarding the role of each songwriter," said Aldri Dataviadi during a Malem-Malem Publishing discussion in Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta on Tuesday, October 24.

Reflecting on what was done with Samsons, Aldri said there was an initial agreement between personnel when creating songs together.

"Like what was applied in Samsons, the song that was created together was not said to have been created by Samsons, but was told by each of its personnel. And there it was agreed how much percent of each personnel was," said Aldri.

According to Aldri, it is important to determine the percentage of the role of each songwriter. And this number must be agreed upon by all songwriters.

"Because, if this is not discussed, usually this will be the source of a commotion," he said.

Aldri realized that there were several songwriters who did not apply the percentage at the beginning. He suggested determining the percentage as soon as possible.

Clear distribution will make the distribution of royalties easier, especially for royalties obtained from digital platforms.

"The point is, even if it's in the middle of the road, it's okay. But there must be an agreement, don't write it down," said Aldri Dataviadi.

"Because, when you have to revise this behind you, it will be very complicated to take care of it. Because you have to tell Spotify how much, how much is the distribution on YouTube," he said.
