Still Often Associated With Pasto, Rayen Pono: No Problem

JAKARTA - Rayendie Rohy Pono alias Rayen Pono was known as a singer when he became a Pasto vocalist at the Bintang Cari Bintang talent search event (2006), and they released their first album with the title I Need You (2007).

After nine years as Pasto's vocalist (formed in 2002), Rayen Pono officially left the group in 2011.

Together with Pasto, Rayen Pono released two albums, namely I Need You and Kembali. They have several hits, such as Tanya Hati, and I'm Definitely Back.

Even though it has been 12 years apart from Pasto, Rayen Pono does not deny that there are still many people who associate him with the former band.

However, Rayen sees it as commonplace. He doesn't mind if it continues to be linked to Pasto.

"There is no problem, Pasto is part of my work too. Sometimes people still call 'Bang Pasto, Bang Pasto'," said Rayen Pono in Tendean, South Jakarta on Tuesday, October 17.

Rayen saw that it was Pasto's big name that made him continue to be linked. However, he believes his name will be better known over time.

"Actually, it doesn't matter. Over time, when my personal engagement goes up, it will automatically be released," said Rayen Pono.

"But it's not something that's disturbing. Pasto is a part of the journey that I'm proud of too," he continued.

Until now, Rayen is also still singing Tanya Hati's song on many occasions. Although he admits that it is quite boring to perform the song, he feels proud because his song is still being enjoyed as a pleasure in itself.

"If you're bored, I'm bored, because maybe thousands of times I've been brought. But once I give the mic to the audience, then I like to be present on my cellphone flash. That feels like you can't be lied to, this song has an important long story for me. So I'm always happy, "concluded Rayen Pono.
