JAKARTA - G-Pluck, a tribute band from The Beatles from Jakarta, spread a cultural mission in Germany. The band, which is one of its members of the AFTERNOON personnel, enlivened the "Singol Market" which is part of their series of British and European tours this year in Koyln, Saturday 9 September.
Playing in the Sudermanplitz area, the G-Pluck entertained hundreds of Indonesians and Germany with flagship numbers popularized by the British super group, The Beatles.
"We are grateful for being invited to appear at such a good event to introduce Indonesia's cultural wealth. We are very proud to fly the Red and White flag and bring Indonesian cultural messages throughout Great Britain and Europe," said G-Pluck bass player, Awan Garnida, who was confiscated by Antara.
On this tour, Awan also mentioned the band's pride when appearing on several stages in Great Britain and Europe wearing batik-motivated shirts. He wanted to share an inspiring message about the beauty of Indonesia to every foreign national they met.
"Some time ago we played at Liverpool wearing a batik shirt. Then yesterday, we appeared in The Hague also wearing batik clothes. We are very proud to talk about everything about the country if there are people who ask about Indonesia," said Awan.
The "Single Market" event is an annual event initiated by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) Frankfurt in collaboration with the German Indonesian friendly institution (Deutsch Indonesische Gessellschaft-DIG) Koyln.
This activity aims to bring Indonesians and German people closer, as well as promote Indonesian culture by presenting a variety of typical Nusantara cultures, arts and culinary arts.
"This event is always colored by performances, food bazaars, and Indonesian handicrafts. Everything is complete here and it can be seen that the enthusiasm of the people of the two countries is very large," said the Action Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia Frankfurt, Toary Fransiskus Worang.
