LMKN Still Has To Work Hard To Educate 14 Public Service Sectors To Pay For Music Royalties Properly

JAKARTA - The National Collective Management Institute (LMKN) still has to work hard to be able to fulfill the economic rights of art actors in the field of music.

The reason is, many songwriters complain about the economic rights of their songs, such as Piyu and Rieka Roslan who claim to only get Rp130 thousand from their songs.

LMKN through a release uploaded to its Instagram account stated that it is still educating 14 commercial non-digital public service sectors related to song royalties.

The Non-APBN Government Assistance Institute under the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) must be able to ensure the user's obligation to pay royalties.

"LMKN continues to be active in conducting socialization and education to the public, especially to public service businesses that are commercial in accordance with Government Regulation Number 58 of 2021 concerning Management of Song and/or Music Copyright Royalties (PP 58)," reads the release of LMKN, seen Tuesday, September 5.

Meanwhile, LMKN must be able to carry out its main task to ensure that Commercial Users can comply with royalty payment obligations for the use of songs and/or music in its business for the welfare of the owners of the rights and stability of the Indonesian music ecosystem.
