John Frusciante Values The Main RHCP Bass Instrument

JAKARTA - Guitarist John Frusciante views bass instruments as the main instrument of the Red Hot Chili Peppers (RHCP).

RHCP is a rather unusual subject, especially since the return of Frusciante to replace Josh Klinghoffer in October 2021. But, beyond that, the relationship between the personnel is so extraordinary that the band can last a long time.

"We all support each other at the same time," said Frusciante at the beginning of an interview with 60 Minutes.

Everyone has a different way of doing that. I see bass as the main instrument all the time.INA doesn't see it that way. I see every song like a solo bass where I'm there to support it," he continued.

The guitarist's comments in the interview reflected his words for Total Guitar last year.

"Too often people think that the value of a guitar player comes from his ability to attract attention," Frusciante told Total Guitar.

For me, the similarity [of all great players]... is that they know how to be a member of a band and make other people sound better.

For me, it doesn't matter how many techniques you have; the real skill in being a guitar player is to make other band members sound good.
