JAKARTA - Foo Fighters has just released a mini album (EP) entitled 00979725. Inside, lies Killing Joke's cover song, Requiem.
The EP is the latest in a series of archival reissues leading up to the 25th anniversary of Foo Fighters' self-titled debut album. Containing a total of six songs, this mini album features a live version of I'll Stick Around and a slow version of Up In Arms. Both were taken from the album The Color and the Shape and the B-side Dear Lover.
Elsewhere in 00979725, Foos reworked the song Killing Joke, Requiem taken during a recording on the BBC in London in May 1997.
The mini album 00979725 follows up on previous albums, such as 01020225, 00111125 Live in London, and 01070725 - containing covers of Arcade Fire, Keep the Car Running - and 02050525 which were released last month.
Other celebrations for the release of Foos' recent work include 00070725 Live at Studio 606 and 00050525 Live in Roswell - recordings from the band's show at Walker Air Force Base in Roswell, New Mexico, near the Area 51 location.
Meanwhile, drummer Taylor Hawkins said recently, Foo Fighters plans to release a new album next year. Concrete and Gold, the band's ninth studio album, was released in September 2017. Hawkins has now confirmed that the Foo Fighters are starting work on their tenth album.
Vocalist Dave Grohl said beforehand, this album would be "really weird". In an interview with Eric Blair, host of the Blairing Out With Eric Blair Show, he was asked how his upcoming album will be different from Concrete and Gold.
"You will hear it. (This album) is really weird."
