Not Only Futuristic, Honda's Electric Motor Concept Offers AWD Drivers

JAKARTA Honda telah memperkenalkan EV Outlier Concept. Model ini menjadi salah satu konsep paling progressif yang ditampilkan Honda tahun ini, menonjol melalui desain futuristik dan penggunaan dua motor listrik yang ditempatkan langsung pada roda depan dan belakang.

EV Outlier Concept was developed by a team of Honda designers led by the Head of the Design Project Yuya Tsutsumi. He explained that this concept was born out of the desire to get out of conventional values in designing motorcycles.

"We started by resetting the entire design approach. The goal is not just to replace the gasoline engine with an electric motorbike, but to create something really new," said Tsutsumi as quoted by Motorcyclenews, Thursday, December 4.

In the process of its development, Honda involved designers from various divisions, including from outside Japan, through a free discussion method they called the waigaya. The approach allows the team to explore unique values that can only be realized by electrification, as well as imagine a new form of a future motorcycle.

Visually, Outliers appear like a modern low rider with low and elongated bodies. Aluminium shells, cruise back swingarms, as well as very low battery placements are made to maintain balance and stability. This proportion produces an unusual silhouette on electric motorcycles.

One of the most prominent elements is the all wheel drive driving system, or all wheels. Electric motors placed on both wheels and power can be arranged electronically according to driving needs.

In normal use, rear motors work as the main driver, while front motors can be activated to provide additional traction or stronger acceleration. The cockpit is also designed futuristic,

The instrument panel combines a horizontal display on the handlebar and a vertical screen in the center of the body, replacing the area that is usually a fuel tank. Honda also planted the camera as a substitute for the mirror, so that the appearance of the handlebar became cleaner.

Its digital interface displays information such as tilt angles, driving modes, and distribution of inter-wheeled power. Honda has not disclosed technical details such as battery capacity, travel distance, or vehicle weights.

The company only confirms that the EV Outlier Concept is a picture of Honda's vision of the direction of electric motorcycles in the future, especially for the decade of the 2030s. The model is designed to show how electrification can create a different driving experience, not just replacing conventional technology.
