Biodiesel From Fish Waste Brings Students Gold At AHM Best Student 2025

JAKARTA The younger generation again shows their great potential in presenting real solutions for the community through the Astra Honda Motor Best Student (AHM Best Student) 2025 event. Dozens of high school and vocational high school students from various regions in Indonesia present creative works and ideas that focus on sustainable issues.

This annual competition made by PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) is not only a competition for ideas, but also a forum for the formation of the character and innovative spirit of the younger generation to be in line with the values of sustainability and technology of the future, including in the automotive sector.

This year's highest achievement was achieved by Refan Enggi Febrianto, who is a student of SMK Bhina Tunas Bhakti Juwana, Central Java, who was named the winner of the Gold level. He created the Biodiesel Fish Oil (BFO) innovation.

Where, alternative fuel from fish waste that can be used by fishing boats in their home area, Juwana. This innovation not only helps overcome the limited supply of biosolars, but also provides added value to waste that was previously wasted.

"I am very happy to be the winner in the AHM Best Student 2025 event. Through this competition I can open up opportunities to realize small ideas that have the potential to bring big changes to society," said Refan Enggi in Jakarta, Friday, October 24.

As a form of appreciation, AHM awarded one unit of HondaBEAT motorcycle, notebook, and three full scholarships at Astra Polytechnic for Refan. Then the winner of the Silver level was Nasywaa Aliya Ramadhani Herenda from SMAN 3 Yogyakarta.

He presented the idea of AGROPEVIA utilizing corn, sugar cane, and banana waste into sustainable paper and compost. Meanwhile, Ahmad Ghozi Islami from SMAN 7 Banjarmasin, the bronze level winner, developed the Mini Weather Station ESP32 and the IoT Integrated Artificial Intelligence Tower to detect early fires in the Meratus Forest, South Kalimantan.

Both works highlight how simple technology can have a big impact, in line with the direction of environmentally friendly innovation which is now also adopted by the global automotive industry.

The finalists of AHM Best Student 2025 have the experience of getting to know the automotive industry directly through a visit to AHM's latest factory in the GIIC area, Central Cikarang, Bekasi. In this modern facility, students see the Honda motorcycle production process which applies high efficiency and environmentally friendly principles.

In addition, AHM also provides ride safety education through interactive training using the Honda Riding Trainer (HRT). Participants are invited to practice predicting potential dangers on the highway and understanding the importance of driving ethics.

AHM's General Manager of Corporate Communication, Ahmad Muhibbuddin, said that the work of the AHM Best Student participants showed high creativity that could become repair embryos and changes that were in line with the goals of sustainable development.

"We want to encourage the creativity of young people, especially high school students, through events that hone Gen Z to become creative, caring, confident, and superior in accordance with SDGs in the fields of education, health, environment, and economy. We hope that their work can have a positive impact on society," said Muhibbuddin.

In addition to competition, the participants also participated in an experience-sharing session with two alumni of AHM Best Student, Rizal Alansyah and Agus Hidayat, who are now actively contributing to social activities. The inspiration is getting stronger through the presence of Prof. Rhenald Kasali, Professor of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia (FEB UI) as well as founder of Rumah Change.
