Chery is updating the Tiggo 8 family in China. This family SUV now has additional Falcon 500 driving assistance features, a smarter cabin, and a new equipment package.
According to a report by CarNewsChina, quoted Wednesday, June 3, the Tiggo 8 Champion Family was launched on June 2, coinciding with the end of the 2026 Taklimakan Rally. This lineup includes the Tiggo 8 Plus, Tiggo 8 Pro, and the latest generation Tiggo 8.
The initial price of this model is pegged starting at 13,700 US dollars. Assuming a rate of around Rp17,800 per US dollar, the value is equivalent to around Rp244 million.
The main highlight is on the Tiggo 8 Plus. This model is now equipped with the Falcon 500 driving assistance system. The system uses the Qualcomm 8620 chip and supports Navigation on Autopilot or NOA on the toll road.
NOA is a feature that helps cars follow navigation semiotomatically on certain routes. Its functions include automatic lane changes, avoiding obstacles, entering and exiting ramps, adjusting to tunnels, and passing through construction zones. Automatic parking assistance is also available.
The Tiggo 8 Plus Extraordinary Champion is offered in the Luxury and Falcon 500 variants. The car equipped with driving assistance features is marked with a blue exterior.
In terms of design, the appearance is still similar to the previous Tiggo 8 Plus. The polygonal grille and integrated headlights are still maintained. The dimensions range from 4,688-4,705 mm for length, 1,860 mm for width, 1,747 mm for height, with a wheelbase of 2,710 mm.
In the cabin, Chery installed a 15.6-inch infotainment screen with a 2.5K resolution. This system is powered by the Qualcomm 8255 cabin chip.
Chery claims its local AI voice model improves language command recognition by 40 percent. The activation rate is said to be above 98 percent, with a response within 700 milliseconds.
The entertainment system supports Gaode Map navigation with traffic light countdown, mobile connection, as well as one-touch modes such as Baby Mode, Nap Mode, and Refresh Mode.
The Tiggo 8 Plus cabin provides 32 storage spaces. The trunk capacity can reach 1,930 liters when the rear seats are folded.
Other features include an eight-point seat massage, five massage modes, three intensity levels, Sony 10 speaker audio, dual-zone AC, and C-Pure cabin air management system.
Its power comes from the Kunpeng 1.6 TGDI turbo gasoline engine. This engine produces 147 kW and 310 Nm of torque. Chery says the dual hydraulic engine mount is capable of dampening vibrations by more than 30 percent.
Tiggo 8 Plus safety features include nine airbags and a 540-degree panoramic camera as standard.
The Tiggo 8 Pro takes a different path. This model emphasizes the practicality of seven seats for families.
The SUV has a length of 4,745 mm, a width of 1,860 mm, a height of 1,745 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,710 mm. The cabin uses two 12.3-inch screens, a 24.6-inch panoramic screen, a Qualcomm 8155 processor, and 50 W wireless charging.
The 5+2 seat configuration supports 12 seating arrangements. If the second and third rows are folded flat, the luggage capacity also reaches 1,930 liters.
The Tiggo 8 Pro is equipped with Level 2 driving assistance. This feature includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, traffic jam assistance, front collision warning, lane departure warning, and speed limit sign recognition.
Level 2 means the car can assist with steering and speed in certain conditions, but the driver must still keep a full eye on it.
The engine is the same, Kunpeng 1.6 TGDI with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Fuel consumption is claimed to be 7.2 liters per 100 km.
The fifth generation Tiggo 8 has the Taklimakan Champion theme. This model is offered in Comfort, Luxury, Premium, and Flagship variants.
Chery also prepared launch incentives, ranging from financing support, trade-in subsidies, road emergency assistance, pick-up and maintenance services, data packages, to a lifetime warranty for the first owner who meets the requirements.
This launch continues the major update of the Tiggo 8. In November 2025, Chery introduced the Tiggo 8 2026 with a 210 kW power option and two front design options.
CarNewsChina reported that China EV DataTracker data showed Chery sold 30,520 vehicles in China in April 2026. The figure was up 3.8 percent from March, but down 29 percent year-on-year. Its market share in China reached 2.2 percent.
The Tiggo 8 remains one of Chery's main SUV lines in the Chinese domestic market, with a variety of variant options, engines, and the latest driving assistance features.
