BYD Reveals Denza B5 Price Estimate If It Is Officially Sold in Indonesia

JAKARTA - BYD brought the Denza B5 Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) to the Indonesian public in a Tangerang event. The presence of the model is not as an official debut as at IIMS 2026, but as an initial step to introduce the BYD premium sub-brand line to consumers in the country.

The Denza B5 itself is a five-passenger SUV that carries Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) technology. If it is officially marketed in Indonesia, this model will be the first hybrid SUV from BYD.

As is known, currently the Chinese manufacturer is still focusing on marketing pure electric vehicles in the country. Regarding the price tag, BYD admitted that it had not set an official figure for the Denza B5, but consumers had an idea of the price range offered by the dealer network.

"We together with dealers provide what is called an indication price, so an estimate. It can be more or less," said Head of Public and Government Relations of PT BYD Motor Indonesia Luther Panjaitan, not long ago.

A number of dealers are said to offer the Denza B5 with an estimated price of around IDR 1.2 billion. Interestingly, there are already prospective customers who have shown interest by making reservations even though this model has not been officially marketed.

Luther assessed that the market's response to the Denza B5 was quite positive, especially from consumers in the premium segment which is BYD's main target.

"If you look at the price indication, it has touched more than Rp. 1 billion, but it turns out that the attention is quite a lot," said Luther.

Speaking of specifications, the Denza B5 carries a 1,500 cc gasoline engine combined with a 31.8 kWh blade battery owned by BYD. The combination allows the electric motor to produce power of up to 400 kW or equivalent to 536.4 hp with a peak torque of 760 Nm.

The SUV is also capable of covering up to 90 kilometers in pure electric mode without the help of a gasoline engine, based on the WLTC testing standard.

If it is officially launched, the Denza B5 will be the first PHEV off-road SUV marketed by BYD Motor Indonesia. However, before that, BYD ensures that it will first present another model, namely the Z9 GT, in the near future.
