SUV Yijing, which was developed jointly with Huawei and Dongfeng, has completed a series of winter trials in China. Yijing is projected to make its official debut at the Beijing Motor Show (Auto China) in April 2026.
This model will be the first flagship SUV for the combined brands of the two giants, as well as the first vehicle to adopt the latest Huawei XMC chassis. Currently, Dongfeng operates three new energy vehicle (NEV) brands in the domestic market.
Namely, Nammi which plays in the entry-level price segment, Yipai which targets mass consumers, while Voyah is positioned for the upper class with the long-term target to become a luxury brand. Dongfeng is said to see a gap between Yipai and Voyah since 2023.
To fill it, the state-owned manufacturer partnered with Huawei and built a collaborative brand code-named DH (Dongfeng & Huawei). In November 2025, the brand was officially announced as Yijing in China, then in January 2026 the first car was caught on camera undergoing road tests.
Yijing said the first prototype model came off the production line in December 2025. A month after assembly began, the vehicle was immediately deployed for extreme weather testing in Mohe and Hulunbuir.
Launching from Carnewschina, Friday, January 23, Mohe itself is known as the northernmost city in China, with a record low temperature of minus 53 degrees Celsius in January 2023. For specifications, this first model of Yijing is called a six-seater flagship SUV.
The car uses Huawei's newly developed XMC Qiankun chassis. According to official statements, its stability was tested on an ice and snow track, as well as proving the new platform's ability in extreme conditions.
Not only the platform, Yijing's first SUV will also be equipped with other Huawei technology ecosystems. Among them are the latest ADS (driving assistance system), Harmony OS cockpit, and Qiankun vehicle control system.
Huawei will also supply cabin lighting to cloud solutions, while Dongfeng is in charge of production. In the future, Yijing aims to launch one new model every year. In terms of design, the appearance of the Yijing SUV looks to follow the trend of modern crossovers.
The roof line tends to be flat with a high waistline, the rear door is elongated, and the D pillar is slightly tilted. The front uses a two-tier lamp design, where the DRL is above the main lights.
Other details that caught the attention include the 10-spoke rims, active air intakes, and LiDAR sensors on the roof and front bumper area. Although the dimensions and drive configuration have not been announced, the SUV is seen having two small covers on the rear bumper, generally indicating a combination of fuel caps and charging ports.
The indication points to the possibility that this model carries a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system. From the test drive photos, the size is said to be close to Li Auto L9, with a length estimated at around 5.2 meters. As for the price, Dongfeng has not released official figures. However, since Yijing is positioned below Voyah, the price tag is expected to be lower than the Voyah Taishan which is sold starting at 379,900 yuan or Rp917 million.
CarNewsChina predicts that the Yijing SUV will be priced below 350,000 yuan. If true, this car will compete with the Geely Galaxy M9 and BYD Tang 9 which will also be launched in the near future.
