Toyota GR GT And GR GT3 Debut Global By Presenting Ornamental Power

JAKARTA - Toyota Gazoo Racing officially introduced two of their newest sport car concepts, Toyota GR GT and GR GT3, in their global debut in Japan on Friday, December 5, 2025. Both models were born from Toyota's long experience in various international racing events and became a new symbol of manufacturer's ambition in presenting extreme sports cars.

The development process for the two highest caste models of GR also involved Akio Toyoda, the grandson of the founder of Toyota and the Chairman of the Toyota Motor Corporation known as the Morizo Master Driver. He also worked with professional drivers such as Tatsuya Kataoka, Hiroaki Ishiura, Naoya Gamou, to Daisuke Toyoda.

Then there are also internal research engineers to create GT and GR GT3 as new generation sports cars that combine the performance of racing and the sensation of driving more emotionally. Toyota emphasized that GT is designed as a highway legal racing car that reflects the company's sports philosophy.

While GR GT3 is a version adapted to GT3 FIA specifications for adrenaline enthusiast customers. In a statement, Toyota said that these two models were positioned as Toyota 2000GT's spiritual successors and Lexus LFA.

"Posited as a flagship car following in the footsteps of Toyota 2000GT and Lexus LFA, one of the goals of the GR GT and GR GT3 development is to preserve and pass the secret concoction of car manufacturing to the next generation, namely Shikinen Sengu Toyota," Toyota Global wrote, quoted on Saturday, December 6.

Carrying a 3,998 cc twin-turbo V8 engine combined with a single electric motor, both models produce a maximum power of 650 PS and an 850 Nm torque that is channeled to the rear wheels through the latest 8-speed automatic transmission.

With this configuration, GR GT and GR GT3 were able to reach a peak speed of about 320 km per hour or more, and Toyota emphasized that this performance could still increase because of their status which was still in the form of a prototype.

Not only pursuing performance, but Toyota also pays great attention to the character of the engine sound. The vortex V8 twin-turbo is made more lively and communicative through the structure of the exhaust pipe which is specially designed to be able to convey changes in thermal energy according to vehicle conditions.

On the construction side, the two models are equipped with new manufacturing technology including the use of Toyota's first aluminum frame, resulting in weights of only 1,750 kilograms with a distribution of 45 percent up front and 55 percent behind.

To support this high performance, Toyota pinned a double wishbone suspension combined with a front-backward coil spring, a 20-inch velg with tires 265/35 at the front and 325/30 behind, as well as a Brembo carbon-dark disk braking system.
