Skoda, a Czech Republic automaker founded in 1895 and now part of the Volkswagen Group is calling back past memories by bringing back their legend, Skolda 100 in the form of a modern electric sedan concept.
For information, between 1969 and 1977, Skolda 100 has sold more than one million units. Now, Skolda is turning it into a sharp and futuristic real-wheel-drive (RWD) electric vehicle (EV), created to turn its head. This concept is the latest part of Skolda's inspirational series, Icons Get a Makeover.
Reporting from Autoexpress, Friday, November 28, the Skoda 100 EV concept features a sharp angular design, giving futuristic touch to the original shape of the sixties of the era.
Martin Paclt, Skold's exterior designer in charge of the project, explains that he wants to work in a car that is already known to many people and has a clean and eternal line.
"Skoda 100 appeals to me with its clean, timeless lines, which are in very line with the current direction of our Modern Solid design," he said. Paclt also insists he doesn't want to make a "recreation in retro style" alone.

Modern Touch And RWD Design Heritage
Despite taking classical inspiration, this concept is also influenced by the current Skode models, even Paclt admits its proportion of taking reference from the Superb, making it slightly larger. Modern touch is clearly visible on the engine hood lines that push inward towards the writing 'Skoda' and the hallmark of the four-front lights. The most prominent part of this design is its back. Referring to the rear engine layout on the original 100 Skolda, Paclt wants a rear-wheel-driven layout (RWD) on this EV concept also has a significant impact on its appearance.
"I want to create a concept with a certain level of realism," Paclt said. This realization can be seen in unique cooling details. This concept has air intake mounted on the roof, replacing rear glass, as well as side-air intake, similar to the position on the original car. On the back, the full-width slab mimics the need for cooling for a four-cylindrical 1.0-liter engine in the previous 100 Skolda a smart nod on the legacy of rear engine layouts.
Not for Production
Just like the other creations in the Icons Get a Makeover' series, this Skode 100 sedan concept is not intended for mass production. However, this concept has more value. Given that Martin Paclt has previously been involved in important production model designs such as Kodiaq, Karoq, and Scala, there is great hope that the influence of retro-futuristic and realistic designs from the Skolda 100 concept will seep into Skolda models in the future.
