Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) officially launched today in the world of the latest generation of Hilux, including the BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) version, at a new vehicle announcement held by Toyota Motor Asia (TMA) in Bangkok, Thailand.
On Toyota Global's official website, called for the Asian market, Toyota plans to launch this model in stages starting in 2026. As for the Japanese market, which will get a diesel-engined variant, its launch is scheduled to take place in the same mid-year.
The latest Toyota Hilux is still built on the Innovative International Multi-Purpose Vehicle (IMV) platform which was first used in the Vigo generation. This model retains the framework of ladders, cabins, and doors, but now comes with a fully new exterior and interior design and is equipped with various modern technologies.
In terms of design, Hilux only carries the concept of Cyber Sumo. The appearance is in accordance with the rendering and leaks of patents that had circulated, highlighting the front fascia with a slim main light projected for LED as the standard. For the highest variant, there are also daytime lights running light/DRL in the form of L as in the previous teaser.
The large rectangular-shaped grid is characteristic on the front, available with a body-like color and flanked by a triangular-shaped fake air hole.

For the Thai market, the Hilux BEV is equipped with a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 59.2 kWh which is able to cover a distance of more than 300 km. This model known as Travo-e supports DC fast charging of up to 125 kW and air conditioning filling of 10 kW through ports in front stalls.
In addition to the electricity version, the latest Hilux also comes with a 1GD-FTV 2.8 liter four cylinder diesel engine which produces 204 PS power at 3,000'3,400 rpm and a peak torque of 500 Nm at 1,600',800 rpm.
The launch of the Hilux is in line with Toyota's ambition to present various types of driving systems globally, including battery-based electric vehicles (BEVs) and hydrogen-fueled electric vehicles (FCEVs). This step is also part of Toyota's multi-pathway approach in realizing carbon neutrality.
